Merit Badges are required once a scout gets into the upper ranks of scouting. (Star, Life, and Eagle)

The easiest way to earn a merit badge is to go to summer camp, where there are various classes to take to earn a badge.
There are a total of 137 merit badges, 13 of which are required for the Eagle rank.Another way to earn a merit badge is to find a merit badge counselor (someone verified to teach a specific merit badge).
